About Mountain Creek Farm
Welcome to the Mountain Creek Farm web site. We are a small exhibition poultry breeder located in the southeastern US who specialize in bearded Silkies and bantam Cochins. We are ASBC Master Exhibitiors and, Master breeders of gray, buff, and white bearded silkies. We are currently breeding Black, Blue, Splash, Buff, White, Partridge, and Gray Silkies; and Brown Red, Lemon Blue, Blue, Black, White, and Lemon Splash Cochins.
Due to bio security risks we no longer allow visitors to the farm.
We raise chickens in the most perfect setting imaginable, in the mountains of Northeast Alabama. We feed quality feed and try to maintain a natural environment for them.
The farm itself has been in our family over 100 years. My husband and I married over 30 years ago and have lived most of our married life here. We have had chickens (mostly silkies and cochins) and a host of other animals over the years but with the birth of our children and careers we got out of chickens completely for several years. Now that the kids are grown up my yearning for chickens returned. A few years ago we bought a small flock of silkies, cochins and a few other breeds. We have had these birds off and on for several years but have just started showing them a few years ago. We have slowly acquired better and better birds thanks to some of the top breeder in the country. Many thanks to Jaynese Knight, Vicki Harry (Sunshine Silkies), Connie Burquest (Premier Silkies), Marty McGuire (Marty's Fancy Featherlegs), and the numerous other breeders that have sold birds to us.
We do have a few other breeds of birds which include Giant Cochins, Light Brahmas, and a flock of mixed breed chickens that are our egg layers and emergency brooders.
Our farm has been on the NPIP program since 2008. Our operation is tested annually by the Alabama Department of Agriculture for Pullorum and Avian Influenza and we hold the NPIP certificate number 64-1141 stating that our flock is free of these diseases.
Our primary focus is good health and temperament while striving to breed our group to APA and ABA standard of perfection. We have been showing our birds since 2009. We keep small groups and strive to have show quality in each group.
Our farm is a member of good standing in the American Bantam Association, Alabama Silkie Breeders Association, Cochins International, The Alabama Bantam Club, and the American Silkie Bantam Club!
Ann is the state representative for the American Silkie Bantam Club, and the Publicity Director for the Alabama Bantam Club. If you would like more information about either club or request a meet please feel free to contact her.
